Is my child growing normally?

Growth is judged by the trend along your child's own curve on WHO/IAP growth charts, not a single reading. Anywhere between the 3rd and 97th percentile is typical; crossing two major percentile lines deserves a paediatric review.

How to track growth

  • Measure height and weight every 1–3 months under 2 years, every 6 months after
  • Plot on IAP charts (5–18 years) or WHO charts (under 5)
  • Look at the direction of the line, not one dot

When to see a paediatrician

  • Below 3rd or above 97th percentile
  • Crossing two percentile lines
  • Weight loss without a reason
